On Thursday, September 22, 2022, I was on a road trip when I accidently raked the air conditioner on my truck camper almost completely off. It was totalled. At the time, I was in Lampasas. I asked local RV services there if they could replace my unit, but each of them told me they did not have the parts. Each of them referred me to Lonestar RV Center in Harker Heights, TX, beside Killeen. Late that morning, I called Lonestar and they said that they did have a replacement unit, so I drove to their shop. That afternoon, they took time to assess my camper’s damage and told me they could replace it and get me back on the road in one day if I was able to bring it in at opening time the next day, Friday. At 8:00AM, I was there. They got my insurance information and contacted my insurer, Progressive, and got the financial end of things going, and between their efforts and Progressive’s office, also managed to get a claim adjuster out that day to expedite payment for the repair. By 2:00PM that afternoon, a new air conditioner was installed, payment was taken care of, and I was back on the road! Everyone I had contact with-- the lady at the front window as well as the gentleman who was in the adjacent window greeting everyone who entered the business, both owners, and the serviceman who did the work--were unusually friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful in many ways. Not only were they accommodating of my on-the-road predicament, they directed me to a close-by, nice RV park where I spent the night before driving my camper in for the repair. A special effort was made when they discovered that the control panel from my old a/c would not match up to the new unit being installed. One of the owners located the part needed and drove to Waco, picked up the part and drove back. Needless to say, I deeply appreciated the extra time and effort that every person at Lonestar put in toward getting me back on the road. Especially in these last couple of years, service of this kind has diminished greatly. There was no put-off because a part was going to be hard to find and gotten on-sight in a rushed situation. I was not treated as an inconvenience or placed on a long waiting list of repairs. Quality and responsiveness are obviously built into their business ethic. I’m truly grateful for business men and women such as I found at Lonestar. They are remnants of the best business practices which once were widespread in this nation. The a/c has worked flawlessly. The integrity and quality found there was high and reassuring.

Slide motor replacement, slide topper repair, general maintenance. Since RV manufacturer is out of business, they worked with me to get a suitable replacement slide motor. I had a spare engine air filter that I wanted installed. They did that without charge. They called me a couple of times and provided an updated on work progress. Washing the rig before they give it back to you is part of their service. This is the second time I?ve had them do work on the motor home. Well pleased with their service and the shop manager. Everything repaired is working fine. How many times does one ever get a call from any repair shop to keep you in the loop on what's going on? This one did.
